American Realism: Works On Paper 1862-2011
Kicked-Off the July 4th Weekend Celebration In Thomaston, Maine.
THOMASTON — The quiet town of Thomaston, Maine, hummed with excitement on Friday, July 1, during the opening reception for American Realism: Works on Paper at Haynes Galleries.
The event drew art lovers from all over the Northeast, and it was easy to see why. On a summer evening, what could be better than fine wine, fine chocolate and fine art by the likes of Homer, Sargent, Young, Brega, and dozens of others. Guests including the author David McCullough and his wife, Rosalee, their daughter Dorie, and her husband, artist T. Allen Lawson, meandered through the two floors of exhibit space — taking the time to truly savor the art.
The mood was festive as the town prepared for its Fourth of July weekend celebration, and patrons had nothing but praise for the show: “One of the best works on paper exhibits I've seen in a long time,” “What a fine collection,” “Terrific range of work.”
There’s still plenty of time to discover what all the buzz is about. American Realism: Works on Paper 1862-2011 is on exhibit until August 4, Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The wine and chocolate may be gone, but the magic continues.
